ANHEUSER-BUSCH DONATES CANNED WATER TO AID IN HAWAIIAN HURRICANE RELIEF
 EFFORTS
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Anheuser-Busch, Inc., today announced it will assist the American Red Cross in supplying aid to areas devastated by Hurricane Iniki by shipping more than 6,000 cases of drinking water from its Los Angeles brewery to the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
Although the water supply in Kauai has been restored, local authorities are continuing to qualify this water as acceptable for consumption. Much of this water has not yet been authorized as appropriate for potable water, thus facilitating a demand on the island for fresh drinking water.
Packaged in cases of 12-ounce plain white cans, the donation of canned water was shipped from Anheuser-Busch's Los Angeles brewery yesterday to Eagle Distributing, Inc., the local Anheuser-Busch distributor in Honolulu. The water is expected to arrive in Hawaii on Sunday, Sept. 27. Eagle Distributing is handling disbursement of the water to Kauai via communal barges that run regularly between Honolulu and Kauai. The water will then be trucked to the appropriate locations as determined by the Red Cross.
Anheuser-Busch most recently donated more than three million cans of water to areas in Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi, to help disaster victims in the wake of Hurricane Andrew.
Additionally, the Anheuser-Busch Charitable Foundation, Inc., donated $1 million to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to provide added support for the agency's relief efforts. The $1 million donation will support relief operations within those parts of Florida and the Gulf Coast that are designated as disaster areas in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, as well as in other areas where the Red Cross' help may be needed.
