ANGUS CHEMICAL WILL RESTART NITROPARAFFIN PRODUCTION
FACILITIES BEFORE YEAR END
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- ANGUS Chemical Company has made great strides toward reconstruction of its basic nitroparaffins plan in Sterlington, La. Under management of the Bechtel Group, rebuilding the plant has been conducted on a ''fast track'' schedule in two phases.
Phase I will be structurally complete by early December. ANGUS will begin start-up procedures with a partial return of production scheduled near year end. Phase II, which will completely restore the basic nitroparaffins capacity, including certain processing improvements, is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 1992.
ANGUS reported that the majority of products are off allocation, and the company expects full availability of all products by early summer. Shipments of nitromethane will resume in January.
"We remain fully committed to supporting our customers and look forward to the continued growth of mutually beneficial relationships," stated ANGUS Board Chairman Roger E. Secrist.
"We are encouraged by the progress of our 'fast track' rebuild project and confident that we can continue to supply most product without interruption," Secrist said.
