ANDRITZ Kusters: Successful engineering of textile calenders to be continued.

The ANDRITZ GROUP is a globally leading supplier of plants and services for the hydropower, pulp and paper, metals, and other spe- cialized industries (solid/liquid separation, feed and biofuel). The Group is headquartered in Graz, Austria and has a staff of approximately 14,300 employees worldwide. ANDRITZ operates over 120 production sites, service and sales companies all around the world.

Textile calenders are made in Krefeld, Germany, for almost 150 years. More than 50 years ago Krefeld became the cradle of the world's first deflection controlled roll, when Eduard Kusters developed the groundbreaking Swimming Roll Kusters (S-Roll). Today ANDRITZ Kusters, which has derived from the former Eduard Kusters Maschinenfabrik, continues this long and successful tradition of developing outstanding calender technology. The international technology group ANDRITZ AG in Graz, Austria, is the sole shareholder of ANDRITZ Kusters. This reflects a great deal of confidence in not only continuing to grow in the traditional Kusters markets, but also in developing new products and business sectors jointly with the other ANDRITZ GROUP member companies.

ANDRITZ Kusters joins the know-how and experience not only of Kusters but also of Kleinewefers engineers and is the only supplier worldwide to offer the com- plete range of all textile calender systems including two different deflection con-trolled roll technologies: the S-Roll and the HyCon Roll.

Textile excellence stands for continuous development and optimization of the whole calender range in order to meet the needs of the market. Due to its wide product range ANDRITZ Kusters ensures tooffer each customer the right execution for any kind of application.

ANDRITZ Kusters' comprehensive product range includes two different deflection controlled calender systems:

teXcal s-roll

The S-Roll adapts against the counter roll ideally, ensuring a constant and smooth adjustable line force across the full roll width.

A maximum line force of 400 N/mm sets new standards for glaze, gloss, and density. The multi covering technology allows various calendering effects by a quick and simple sleeve change. Applications like shirting, apparel, sports wear as well as technical textiles are only a few examples for the flexibility of this cal-ender execution.

teXcal hycon L for ultimate production flexibility

With the HyCon Roll ANDRITZ Kusters offers a re-engineered and improved piston supported roll system. The L-shaped arrange- ment of the three rolls in the teXcal hycon L allows a highly efficient and flexible produc- tion, especially for home textiles. Two effects can be attained in one fabric passage: density and high gloss in one nip, as well as excellent handle in the soft nip.

All ANDRITZ Kusters calender systems stand for highest productivity with hardly any down-times. The compact design allows con- tainer shipment to the assembly point with- out the need of prior dismantling. Completely pre-assembled, cabled and functionally tested, the calender can be commissioned within the shortest time: plug and play!

The Competence Center for textile calendering within the ANDRITZ Group remains in Krefeld, Germany. Due to in-house manufacturing of all system rolls and other core components ANDRITZ Kusters is able to take advantage instantly of any new technology and development. Positive synergy effects that arise from the worldwide ANDRITZ service, R and D and manufacturing capacities are directly transferred to the customer. More than 80 textile calenders for all kind of applications sold within the last 5 years show the trust of the textile industry in the advanced engineering of ANDRITZ Kusters.
