CARLO ANCELOTTI ripped into his Chelsea slackers last night and accused them of lacking desire.

The manager, who will bring back fit-again John Terry to inspire the champions' against Everton today, has seen three defeats in the last five Premier League games cost his team the No.1 spot.

Skipper Terry has missed nearly a month with a back injury. Michael Essien also returns after a three-match ban but Frank Lampard's recovery from a hernia will take another week.

Ancelloti insisted: "Terry, Lampard and Essien are important players but I think we could have done better without them.

"I think we were not 100 per cent focused. You can have desire at 99 per cent, but it is not enough.

"It's important to have Terry back. He's a player with personality. The other players have to show his qualities - not just John."

The manager went on: "I am under pressure. I saw a fantastic reaction last season when things weren't so good, and I hope to see the same tomorrow.

"We are coming into a vital period and need to start winning again, so this may be our most important game of the season.

"Everton are a very strong team, and then we have to play against three teams who think they can win the title - Tottenham, Arsenal and Man United."

Didier Drogba has played on after his bout of malaria and said yesterday: "I'm improving but my body has not recovered fully."
