WYATT SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES THE INTEGRATION OF MICROPAL DATA IN AIM
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Wyatt Software announced today the integration of the Micropal database with AIM, its PC-based Performance Comparison and Asset Allocation software system. Investment professionals worldwide can now use AIM for the analysis of over 16,000 collective investments, giving them the ability to consider a world of investment opportunity.
"Micropal, the world's number one fund analysis company and a leading supplier of domestic and international mutual fund information, brings to AIM a new universe of data," explained David Luman, Wyatt Software's director of Marketing. "Never before has so much data come together with such powerful analytical resources."
The AIM software is completely complementary to Micropal's own PC-based fund analysis system which is specifically designed for the worldwide mutual fund industry. "AIM brings quantitative research facilities to Micropal's data," commented Chris Poll, chairman and managing director of Micropal.
According to Luman, AIM's sophisticated analytical features enable investors to evaluate mutual fund performance using a variety of reporting and graphics options. These include the ability to create custom universes, rank returns, perform regression analysis, create benchmarks, and adjust returns for currency, risk, or inflation.
The system's Risk/Return Scatter Plot is one way in which to illustrate the use of Micropal data in AIM. "Here, investors compare the performance of various funds to each other, to alternative funds, and to the market for any time horizon for which data is available using AIM's technical analytical tools," said Luman.
In addition to U.S. mutual funds, the Micropal database consists of returns on open end investments from Japan, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, Austria, Denmark, Belgium, Australia, and nearly 3,000 "offshore" funds.
AIM offers other add-on databases which include investment manager returns, variable annuity data, and coverage of the world's financial markets. AIM's standard database is comprised of over 500 domestic and international market indices, currencies, and economic indicators.
The integration of the Micropal database and AIM is the result of a joint agreement between Micropal, a London-based world's fund industry leader in the provision of statistical information on collective investments, and Wyatt Software.
"The partnership between Micropal data and Wyatt Software is yet another example of Micropal's approach of not reinventing the wheel and developing third-party relationships in order to provide proven expertise and a range of established services to our client base," continued Poll.
Micropal opened its office in Boston last year in order to bring both the U.S. mutual fund and its global information to the U.S. investment industry.
Wyatt Software designs, develops, and markets financial and employee benefits software to meet the needs of both the domestic and international marketplace. Wyatt Software is a subsidiary of The Wyatt Company, an independent consulting firm.
