AN UNCONVENTIONAL SURVEY JUST IN TIME FOR THE CONVENTION
RACINE, Wis., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Just when you thought you were safe from political polls, Western Publishing Company, Inc. -- maker of Golden Games(R) -- has released a not-so-serious survey to mark the introduction of a new presidential election board game this month.
In a telephone poll of 1,000 adults, respondents were asked:
 1. What would it take to make you watch the entire Democratic Convention?
 a) The national debt -- in cash 48 percent
 b) A checking account at the U.S. House Bank 21 percent
 c) The vice presidential nomination 13 percent
 d) Don't know 27 percent
 2. What qualities do you look for in choosing a presidential candidate?
 a) Ability to lie with dignity and grace 28 percent
 b) Lack of clear political views 27 percent
 c) A quality hair piece 9 percent
 d) Don't know 38 percent
 3. What are the odds the Democrats will get back into the White House?
 a) Poor: Their opponents are still in the race 39 percent
 b) Fair: They can try trick-or-treating there on
 Halloween 27 percent
 c) Good: Anyone can take the tour 22 percent
 d) Don't know 12 percent
Western Publishing conducted the survey to mark this month's introduction of "Risky Strategy(TM) -- The Game of Campaign Capers," a new board game that lets players plot their way to the White House.
"We thought a tongue-in-cheek survey would give Americans a break from the serious side of the presidential campaign," said Kim McLynn, spokesperson for Western Publishing. "It gives us all a chance to poke a little good-natured fun at one of America's favorite subjects -- politics."
Western Publishing Company, Inc., a subsidiary of Western Publishing Group, Inc., is a major producer and marketer of adult and juvenile games. Marketed under the Golden Games(R) line, Western Publishing's products include such bestsellers as Pictionary(R), Outburst(R), Balderdash(R) and Girl Talk(R).
