AN EGG-CELLENT FARM FRESH EGG INTRODUCED

SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by a representative of Good News Products Inc.:
If you love eggs -- the all-time favorite American breakfast food -- then you're ready for some "Good News." An exciting addition to the food industry, introduced by a group of leading egg producers, is a new shell egg produced from hens fed a consistent, all-natural diet.
Jeff Stroburg of Good News Products Inc. said this group has "developed a premium egg, called Good News Eggs, for people wanting a healthier lifestyle."
Stroburg explained, "The only thing we are doing is changing the egg's fat profile so that five to six times more Omega-3 polyunsaturated fats are developed and the total saturated fats are decreased. However," he noted, "the cholesterol level has not been changed."
Stroburg continued, "To put it simply, chickens are what they eat. Our research was based on clinical studies showing that feeding chickens a better diet would improve the egg."
Good News hens are fed a low-fat, all-natural diet of fortified flax, in conjunction with other feed grains and vitamins. These ingredients, selected specifically for the purpose of reducing the hens' saturated fat intake, cause the hens to produce an egg with a saturated fat profile 50 percent less than "average" eggs.
Good New eggs' total fat content is 4 grams of fat rather than the original egg's 5 grams. Saturated fat is 1 gram instead of 2. That also means less calories: From the 80 calories in an original egg to 70 calories in Good News Eggs. And Good News Eggs taste the same, smell the same and cook the same as an original egg, and are a 100-percent natural, delicious tasting egg that everyone can feel good about eating.
Good News Eggs, test-marketed last summer in the Midwest, are already on the following local California grocery stores' shelves: Albertson's, Lucky's, Raley's and Bel Air Markets.
Hamilton, Mich., Good News Products Inc. has coast-to-coast franchise holders. California's franchisee is Cal Eggs, who sells Good News Eggs by the dozen in traditional white egg cartons easily recognized by their colorful red and yellow label.
People should check with a physician or nutritionist regarding the benefits of Omega-3 polyunsaturates.
