AN ACT of theft is a serious business, but I'm afraid I had to smile at those photos of George Bush gladhanding the Albanians - only to discover someone had swiped the watch from his wrist.

Full marks to the thief, though, both for his dexterity and temerity in stealing from the US president.

One thing did strike me, however. How come the world's most powerful man who let's face it, isn't without a few bob, is wearing a cheap Timex?

I expected a flash Texan to sport a Rolex at least.

And who would have expected a street thief to bamboozle a president?

Actually, come to think of it....
