AMWAY CORP. TEAMS WITH NBA AS A WORLDWIDE SPONSOR

 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Amway Corp. and the National Basketball Association announced today an agreement making Amway's Nutrilite products the "Official Vitamins And Food Supplements Of The NBA." Amway and Nutrilite also will sponsor the NBA's "Defensive Player of the Year" award.
 The three-year agreement was announced this morning at Amway Corp.'s annual convention in Grand Rapids by Amway President Dick DeVos and Executive Committee Chairman Steve Van Andel, with a videotaped message from NBA Commissioner David Stern.
 Nutrilite Products, Inc., an Amway subsidiary in Buena Park, Calif., produces a full line of vitamins and food supplements sold exclusively by Amway's 2 million independent distributors in the United States and countries around the world. The products are unique for their natural concentrates grown with alternative farming methods.
 In his taped message, Stern welcomed Amway and mentioned, "Amway has built an impressive worldwide presence -- just as the sport of basketball has taken the world by storm -- and we look forward to working together here in the U.S. and around the globe."
 The NBA's global scope and reputation as a quality sports organization made it a desirable partner for Amway. "The NBA is one of the world's most admired sports leagues and its players are among the world's finest athletes. It is this combination of quality and performance that attracted us to the NBA, and we strive to deliver quality and performance in products and service," said DeVos, a member of the family that owns the NBA's Orlando Magic.
 Van Andel said Amway and Nutrilite's sponsorship of the NBA is a natural association. "Nutrilite products have been on the cutting edge of health and fitness for almost 60 years. Our agreement with the NBA showcases the quality of our products in healthy, active lifestyles.
 Under the agreement, Amway will designate its Nutrilite vitamin and food supplement products as the "Official Vitamins And Food Supplements Of The NBA," for use with the NBA logo in Amway promotional literature, advertising, and special events. Amway representatives also will present the Amway/Nutrilite "Defensive Player of the Year" award during the post-season. Amway also is exploring promotional tie-ins with NBA- related events in countries including Mexico, Japan, Canada, Germany, and England.
