AMTECH REPORTS ON OUTLOOK
DALLAS, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Amtech Corporation (NASDAQ: AMTC) today said that its business outlook remains positive for the balance of 1992 and for 1993. The company's management said that revenues for calendar 1992 should total between $35 million and $38 million, up at least 87 percent from the $18.7 million reported in 1991. Expectations for 1992 earnings per share are in the range of $0.55 to $0.60 per share, compared with a net loss of $0.50 per share reported in 1991.
As previously reported for the six-month period ended June 30, net income was $0.14 per share on revenues of $15.5 million. The company said that it expects to announce third quarter 1992 actual operating results the week ending Oct. 23.
Looking ahead to 1993, the company indicated an estimated revenue range from $44 million to $53 million, with estimated earnings of $0.95 to $1.20 per share. The estimated 1993 earnings per share amounts include $0.16 to $0.22 relating to the expected positive impact from the implementation of Statement of Financial Accounting Standards No. 109, "Accounting for Income Taxes," which provides for recognition of deferred tax benefits of the company's tax net operating loss carryforwards previously not recognized under prior accounting standards.
The company said that it is continuing to experience strong demand for its products in the North American rail and related transportation market segments as well as in the electronic toll collection market segment, with over half of 1992 and 1993 revenues anticipated to stem from the transportation markets as it had expected.
Steve York, chief financial officer, stated, "Investors should bear in mind that this information represents management's current estimate of the results they believe the company is likely to achieve. A substantial amount of the company's revenue is expected to come from electronic toll collection and other large systems contracts not yet bid or awarded and from purchase of equipment and services by the transportation market which have not yet been contracted for. As a consequence, the company's future revenues and earnings are inherently difficult to estimate. Actual results may vary significantly from these estimates and may fluctuate from quarter to quarter."
