AMTECH ANNOUNCES INTRODUCTION OF ITS READ/WRITE RADIO
 FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM
DALLAS, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Amtech Corporation (NASDAQ: AMTC) today announced the introduction of its read/write radio frequency identification (RFID) system for electronic toll applications, named "IntelliTag(TM)." This system incorporates newly developed turnkey application software as well as RFID hardware.
Amtech has a number of RFID systems in large scale commercial electronic toll collection settings which utilize Amtech's TollTag(R) identification devices. This current technology permits identification data to be "read" from the tag. IntelliTag not only permits identification information to be read from the tag, but also permits information to be written dynamically back to the tag. Amtech's read- only and the new IntelliTag systems provide full lateral compatibility features so that identification tags from one system can be recognized and recorded by the other system.
M.J. Breslin, marketing vice president of Amtech stated, "In response to input from state departments of transportation and toll agencies, we're providing an Amtech quality product for those needing read/write capabilities."
Amtech's system is the only technology which meets all the compatible and overlapping standards for radio frequency identification for various highway, rail and transportation equipment set by the International Standards Organization (ISO), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Trucking Associations (ATA), Association of American Railroads (AAR) and International Air Transport Association (IATA). The new read/write products will be fully compatible with these industry standard read-only tags. This will allow the existing installed base of several hundred thousand read-only tags to be utilized in new systems implementing read/write capabilities.
Amtech Corporation designs, manufactures, markets and supports a line of hardware and software products and provides services utilizing its proprietary radio frequency electronic identification technology. Radio frequency electronic identification (RFID) technology permits the remote identification of and communication with trucks, automobiles, rail cars, intermodal containers and other transportation equipment through the use of radio signals. Amtech products are currently marketed to the electronic toll and revenue collection, intermodal transportation, rail transportation, vehicle fleet management and access control and air freight industries.
