New director of member services for the AMTDA is industry veteran Steven L. Lesnewich, who will focus on programs like the US Manufacturing Technology Consumption statistical series, education and leadership courses, and joint meetings with other trade groups. Lesnewich has had a long association with Daewoo Machinery (W. Caldwell, N.J.), which in recent years became Doosan Infracore Machine Tools following a merger of parent companies in Korea. More recently he was involved with the move into North America by Samsung Machine Tools (Kyoungnam, So. Korea). Also, the American Machine Tool Distributors' Assn. (Rockville, Md.) has recognized several new Certified Machine Tool Sales Engineers (CMTSEs) including independent Michael Conroy and seven from the Hartwig organization: Jim Copeland, Stephen Draper, Bryon Nance, Micky Petersen, Dodge Saner, Aric Vonasek, and Brad Young. The certification acknowledges a demonstrated level of competency.
