AMT REPORTS THIRD QUARTER RESULTS

HOUSTON, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- American Medical Technologies, Inc. ("AMT") (NASDAQ: AMOT), today announced a net loss of $306,134, or $.02 per share, for the quarter ended June 30, 1993, compared with a net income of $1,568,902, or $.14 per share, for the same quarter in 1992. For the nine months ended June 30, 1993, the net loss was $1,006,599, or $.08 per share, compared with a net income of $742,287, or $.07 per share, for the same period in 1992. For the three and nine months ended June 30, 1992 the company had gains on the sale of securities of $2,057,638 and $2,070,638, respectively.
Revenues for the three and nine month periods ended June 30, 1993 were $5.4 million and $14.8 million, respectively, compared with $1.9 million and $5.1 million for the comparable periods in 1992. The increase in revenues is primarily due to the acquisition of Tidel Engineering, Inc. ("Tidel") on Sept. 30, 1992. Tidel's sales for the three and nine periods of $3.6 million and $9.1 million represent a 12 percent and 7 percent increase over the same periods in 1992. 3CI total service revenues have improved during the three and nine month periods in 1993 compared to 1992. The increases have been achieved on higher volume and new services, after considering $274,000 one-time sales of OSHA compliance manuals in the third fiscal quarter of last year.
Leonard A. Bedell, EVP, stated, "We continue to be encouraged by the performance of Tidel, the acceptance of its new products and the development of new markets. At 3CI, June 1993 was our best operating month since June 1992. Management has focused its efforts on expanding 3CI's revenue base with new services in an ever increasing price competitive medical market, achieving higher productivity through transportation efficiencies, reducing personnel cost, lowering incineration costs at one facility, and initiating price increases related to certain contract renewals. These initiatives are expected to continue the improvement in operating results and accelerate 3CI's and AMT's return to profitability," Bedell said.
"During the quarter AMT has completed two major refinancings which provides long term working capital to finance Tidel's growth and enables AMT to continue its strengthening of its financial position," Bedell noted.
