AMSOUTH, MID-STATE SET MERGER DATE

 BIRMINGHAM, Ala., and OCALA, Fla., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- AmSouth Bancorporation (NYSE: ASO) and Mid-State Federal Savings Bank jointly announced today that the merger of Mid-State into AmSouth Bank of Florida is scheduled to occur at the close of business on Dec. 9, 1993.
 In the weeks to come, the two banks will complete various required customer notifications and continue extensive training programs to acquaint Mid-State employees with AmSouth products and procedures.
 At the close of business on Thursday, Dec. 9, the process of converting Mid-State services into corresponding AmSouth services will begin. New products from AmSouth's extensive product portfolio also will be added. Employees of both Mid-State and AmSouth will work over the subsequent weekend to complete the conversion and make the transition to AmSouth as smooth as possible for customers.
