AMSCO INTRODUCES REUSABLE SURGICAL GOWN SERVICE
PITTSBURGH, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- AMSCO Sterile Recoveries, Inc.,

a subsidiary of AMSCO International, Inc. (NYSE: ASZ) announced today that it has received permission from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market a new line of reusable surgical gowns.
The gowns provide surgical personnel with advanced protection against infectious diseases while helping hospitals to reduce their volume of surgical waste.
Old-style reusable surgical gowns fell out of favor with hospitals over two decades ago. As disposables became the standard of the healthcare industry, however, hospitals were confronted with complaints from surgical personnel about comfort, concerns about blood striking through the disposable material, and the environmental impact of biohazardous hospital waste. AMSCO has responded to these issues by developing a sterilization service which features a decontamination, packaging, sterilization and delivery system that allows AMSCO's gowns to be recycled.
AMSCO Sterile Recoveries, Inc., recently opened sterilization service centers in Tampa, Fla., and Dallas, and is planning to open six other facilities in major U.S. cities before year's end. AMSCO International, Inc., is a leading provider of infection control, decontamination and surgical products and services to healthcare, scientific and industrial customers.
