AMS NAMES PAUL A. BRANDS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- American management Systems (AMS) announced today that Paul A. Brands has been elected chief executive officer of the corporation.
This announcement completes a reorganization of the top management structure of AMS, first announced in October 1992, that is designed to free more executive time for working with major clients and to transition the company to a new generation of leadership. At that time, Paul A. Brands was named vice chairman and Philip M. Giuntini was named president. Both were also elected to the AMS board of directors.
Mr. Brands assumes the CEO title from Charles O. Rossotti, who will remain chairman of the board. In addition to Mr. Rossotti, two other founders of the company remain directors and officers: Patrick W. Gross as vice chairman and Frank A. Nicolai as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Dr. Fred L. Forman will continue as executive vice president with oversight of AMS's technology programs and resources.
Charles O. Rossotti said, "This step completes a transition to a new management structure that will allow AMS to continue growing through the decade of the 90s. Paul Brands as CEO and Philip Giuntini as president will run the business, while Patrick Gross and I will be working with our client teams to develop and manage our relationships with our largest clients."
"Today, technology is a strategic business tool for line executives," said Mr. Brands. "AMS's specialized approach combines new technology with business vision for industries like banking, telecommunications and government to help clients improve their performance. This has been and will remain the foundation for AMS's growth."
Paul Brands came to AMS in 1977 after serving as deputy assistant administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He was initially responsible for AMS business with federal agencies and later assumed responsibilities for AMS work with state and local governments, education and selected major corporations, as well as AMS training and other corporate support functions. He has an undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University and an MBA from the University of Rochester.
AMS is a leader in helping clients strengthen performance through the intelligent use of information technology. The company, which completed its 23rd consecutive year of growth, is headquartered in Arlington, and has offices in 29 cities throughout North America and Europe. AMS's revenues for 1992 were $333 million.
