AMR CORPORATION COMMENTS ON TRIBUNAL DECISION INVOLVING CANADIAN AIRLINES AND GEMINI GROUP

DALLAS/FORT WORTH AIRPORT, Texas, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- AMR Corporation said today it is encouraged that Canada's Competition Tribunal has found that airline competition in Canada would be preserved by allowing Canadian Airlines International to terminate its computer services agreement with the Gemini Group. AMR also said it is pleased that the Tribunal decided that Gemini would not be harmed by this transaction.
Donald J. Carty, AMR's executive vice president-finance and planning, said, "While the Tribunal has found that it lacks jurisdiction to take the steps necessary to free Canadian Airlines from the Gemini agreement, AMR hopes, given the strength of the Tribunal's findings on competition issues, that the matter will soon be resolved by the Canadian government or the courts and that AMR will be able to consummate its transaction with Canadian Airlines."
Carty said it would be inappropriate for AMR to comment further.
