AMOCO OIL DONATES FRESH WATER, GASOLINE TO FUEL DES MOINES FLOOD RELIEF EFFORTS

DES MOINES, Iowa, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Amoco Oil Company is trucking 20,000 gallons of fresh bottled water to Des Moines, Iowa, and providing $1,000 in gasoline coupons to the American Red Cross here for the group's flood relief activities.
The water is being delivered in four truck loads from Minneapolis. The first truck is scheduled to arrive at the Polk County Disaster Relief Center on Wednesday, with the remaining trucks arriving later this week.
The water will be distributed to the elderly, handicapped persons, and others unable to fend for themselves during the flood crisis.
Amoco also is providing a 2,600 water truck to the city of Clive fire department.
"Amoco is committed to the communities that we do business in. It's at times like these that we take special pride in being able to help our neighbors," said Jerry Maas, Iowa sales manager for Amoco Oil.
Amoco has donated gasoline and diesel fuel to cities and towns that are among the hardest hit by the flood, including Alton and Grafton, Ill., Hannibal, Mo., and Davenport, Dubuque, and Ottumwa, Iowa.
In addition to immediate efforts by Amoco, its employees, and its dealers and jobbers, the company also will provide relief to holders of Amoco Credit Cards who are displaced by the floods. Affected cardholders will be able to defer their next payment up to 30 days.
Credit card holders who are eligible to defer payments will receive notification in their billing, according to Rudy Marcinko, manager of customer service at Amoco's Customer Service Center in West Des Moines.
"We are sensitive to our customers' needs and want to do what we can to help them through this very difficult situation," said Marcinko.
