AMEX TO OPEN OPTIONS TRADING ON MESA INC. NEW YORK, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange today
said that on Wednesday, Sept. 9, it will open put and call options trading on the listed stock of MESA Inc. (ticker symbol: "MXP").
MESA Inc. is one of the nation's largest independent natural gas producers. The company is based in Dallas and houses its exploration and production operations primarily in other parts of Texas and Kansas. MXP will open with strike prices of 7-1/2, 10 and 12-1/2 and position limits of 5,500 contracts. Initial expiration months will be October and November of 1992 and January and April of 1993. Cohen, Cohn, Duffy & McGowan, Inc. will be the specialist unit for the new options. The Amex trades a total of 290 stock options, including 79 options on over-the-counter stocks, as well as 33 LEAPS (TM) (Long-term Equity AnticiPation Securities). In addition, options are traded on five broad-market indexes -- the Major Market Index (XMI), the XMI LEAPS (TM) Index (XLT), the S&P MidCap 400 Index (MID), the Institutional Index (XII), and the Japan Index (JPN) -- as well as three industry based indexes -- the Oil Index (XOI), the Computer Technology Index (XCI) and the Pharmaceutical Index (DRG).
