AMEX OPENS TRADING IN LEAPS ON NOVELL, INC.
NEW YORK, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange today opened trading in Long-term Equity AnticiPation Securities(TM), LEAPS(TM), on the over-the-counter stock of Novell, Inc. (options symbol: "NKQ"). Headquartered in Provo, Utah, Novell, Inc. designs, manufactures, markets and services high performance local area network (LAN) software which enables personal computers to share resources, communicate with other networked personal computers and access mainframes. The company has several wholly owned subsidiaries, including Digital Research Inc. Novell LEAPS have expirations in January of 1995 (LEAPS symbol: "VNN") and 1996 (LEAPS symbol: "LNO"). VNN and LNO opened with strike prices of 25, 30 and 40. GHM, Inc. is the specialist unit for the new LEAPS. LEAPS have longer terms until expiration than regular options, usually up to three years. The Amex trades a total of 326 stock options, including 86 options on over-the-counter stocks, as well as 43 LEAPS.
