AMEX OPENS OPTIONS TRADING ON AMEX-LISTED THERMEDICS INC.
NEW YORK, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange today opened options trading on the Amex-listed stock of Thermedics Inc. (stock/option symbol: TMD). Based in Woburn, Mass., Thermedics develops, manufactures and markets explosives- and drug-detection devices, product quality- assurance systems, electronic test instruments, implantable heart-assist devices and other biomedical products, and provides analytical laboratory services. Thermedics is a public subsidiary of Thermo Electron Corporation, a Fortune 500 diversified technology company. The company conducts its business directly as well as through four subsidiaries, Thermo Cardiosystems, Thermo Voltek, Thermedics Detection Inc. and Corpak Inc. TMD opened with strike prices of 20, 22-1/2 and 25, and position limits of 3,000 contracts. Initial expiration months are October and November of 1993 and February and May of 1994. Cohen, Cohn, Duffy & McGowan, Inc., is the specialist unit for the new options. The Amex trades a total of 346 stock options, including 98 options on over-the-counter stocks, as well as 43 LEAPS(R) (Long-term Equity AnticiPation Securities)(R).
