AMEX INTRODUCES LEAPS (TM) ON TELEFONOS DE MEXICO, S.A. de C.V. NEW YORK, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange today announced that it introduced LEAPS (TM) (Long-term Equity Anticipation Securities) on the underlying common stock of Telefonos de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. Amex Telefonos de Mexico LEAPS have expirations in January of 1994 (LEAPS symbol: WTE) and 1995 (LEAPS symbol: VTE). WTE and VTE opened with strike prices of 35, 45 and 55. LEAPS have longer terms until expiration than regular options, up to three years. The securities offer extended opportunities for investors to seek profit or protection from price movements in a particular stock or index. The exchange currently trades a total of 34 LEAPS on stocks as well as 294 stock options, including 81 options on over-the-counter stocks.
