AMERITECH OFFERS DISCOUNTS ON ADDITIONAL PHONE LINES FOR BUSINESS CUSTOMERS

CHICAGO, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- As the nation's economy continues to show improvement, Ameritech today announced a program to help small businesses in the Midwest improve their telecommunications capabilities. The program includes discounts on two of the most important tools for today's businesses: phone lines and fax machines.
Ohio small business customers can save $49 when ordering an additional business phone line from Ameritech.
"Nearly half of the business owners who participated in our recent Ameritech 'Small Business Barometer' survey consider the telephone their most valuable business tool," said Tim Cawley, Ameritech small business services vice president of marketing. "Our research also indicates that many also feel they could improve their business with additional phone lines, but hold back because of cost. This offer enables them to cost- effectively take advantage of the benefits of telecommunications by making their small business more accessible to their customers."
In addition, said Cawley, for many small business owners the telephone line is their primary connection to their customers. If a business' customers have been having trouble getting through because the line is always busy, now is the time to eliminate the busy signals with additional phone lines.
Also, an additional phone line can be used for a dedicated facsimile machine providing easier access for customers and business associates.
More than half of Ameritech small business customers have facsimile machines, according to the company.
"Each day more and more business is conducted via the fax machine," said Cawley. "The integration of the telephone and facsimile technology is changing the way we do business by making business people more efficient and responsive to their customers."
To enable more small business to take advantage of the facsimile technology, Ameritech also is offering customers who order an additional line a special offer on a Panasonic KX-F160 3-in-1 fax machine. The cost for the combined fax, telephone and answering machine is $379, a significant savings off the manufacturer's suggested retail price of $589, plus $29.95 for shipping and handling.
