 AMERISCRIBE EARNS $1.2 MILLION IN SECOND QUARTER;
 OPERATING INCOME RISES NEARLY 118 PERCENT
 NEW YORK, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Ameriscribe Corporation (NYSE: ACR), a leading national provider of facilities management and office support services, today reported its results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 1992.
 Total revenues for the recent three months were $28,599,000, compared with $24,436,000 for the second quarter of 1991, an increase of 17 percent. Net income for the second quarter of 1992 was $1,190,000, or $0.20 per share, all of which was provided by operations. This represented an increase of 118 percent over the comparable operating income figure for the same quarter of 1991, which was $547,000, or $0.16 per share. Net income for the year-ago quarter was $795,000, or $0.23 per share, after a benefit of $248,000, or $0.07 per share, from the utilization of net operating loss carryforwards. Per share results for the recent quarter were based on 6,025,000 average shares outstanding, versus 3,413,000 in the same period of 1991; the increase was primarily due to the sale of an additional 2,300,000 shares to the public in July 1991.
 The company attributed the sharp increase in operating income primarily to higher sales produced by continued growth in the number of facilities management sites, additional services sold to existing sites, and an increase in "same site" sales. In addition to higher sales, the company experienced significant reductions in selling, administrative and interest expenses.
 For the six months ended June 30, 1992, Ameriscribe's total revenues were $56,417,000, an increase of 18 percent over the $47,883,000 recorded in the first half of 1991. Income from operations for the recent six-month period was $2,208,000, or $0.37 per share. This compared with $593,000, or $0.17 per share, for the same period of 1991, representing an increase of 272 percent.
 Net income for the first six months of 1992 was $14,208,000, or $2.36 per share, including $12,000,000, or $1.99 per share, from the cumulative effect of a change in accounting for income taxes. (The change reflected Ameriscribe's adoption of SFAS No. 109 in the 1992 first quarter, causing the company to record a deferred tax asset of $12,000,000 which primarily represented the estimated future value of net operating loss carryforwards.) Net income for the first half of 1991 was $858,000, or $0.25 per share, after a benefit of $265,000, or $0.08 per share, from the utilization of net operating loss carryforwards. Per share results for the six months ended June 30, 1992 and 1991 were based on 6,019,000 and 3,400,000 average shares outstanding, respectively.
 Allan R. Tessler, chairman and CEO, commented, "Ameriscribe enjoyed a substantial increase in sales, largely due to the addition of 33 new client installations during the first half of 1992. We also continued to experience increases in 'same site' sales and demand for additional services at existing sites." He noted that the Company's subsidiary, Ameriscribe Management Services, Inc., operated 251 facilities management installations at June 30, 1992, compared with 202 a year earlier.
 Tessler also stated that the company sees strong growth prospects for another subsidiary, Ameriscribe Data Resources (formerly known as Advanced Data Reprographics, Inc.), an electronic publishing and document management services company acquired in 1988.
 "Ameriscribe Data Resources has expanded its services to include on-demand printing, electronic document storage, distributive printing, custom book publishing, and on-site electronic document management. These services are becoming increasingly valuable to corporations and professional firms as they attempt to manage a steadily growing document volume in the most efficient manner possible," Tessler said.
 Ameriscribe Corporation, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Ameriscribe Management Services, Inc., is a leading national provider of reprographic and related facilities management services on the premises of major legal, financial and Fortune 1,000 firms. The services offered by Ameriscribe -- copy, mailroom and facsimile operations and electronic publishing -- help clients manage their document flow in an effective, efficient and economical manner.
