AMERICAN TELECASTING ANNOUNCES EXERCISE OF OVER-ALLOTMENT OPTION

 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- American Telecasting Inc. (NASDAQ: ATEL) today announced the closing of the sale of 172,500 shares of its common stock to the underwriters of its initial public offering pursuant to their exercise of an over-allotment option.
 The shares were sold at a price to the public of $18 per share. The initial public offering was managed by Alex. Brown & Sons Inc., Bear Stearns & Co. Inc. and Montgomery Securities.
 American Telecasting is an operator of wireless cable television systems which currently provide pay television service to over 26,000 subscribers in Colorado Springs, Toledo, Orlando, Ft. Myers, Billings, Daytona Beach, South Bend, Little Rock and Louisville.
