 AMERICAN SUPERCONDUCTOR ANNOUNCES FY 1992 OPERATING RESULTS
 WATERTOWN, Mass., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- American Superconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: AMSC) today reported operating results for its fourth quarter and its fiscal year, ended March 31, 1992, with annual revenues of $2,878,685, and a net loss of $1,719,374 or $0.47 per share. For the previous year, the firm posted revenues of $2,115,729 with a net loss of $1,813,741 or $0.63 per share.
 For the fourth quarter ended March 31, 1992, the firm's revenues were $970,570 with a net loss of $501,242, or $0.10 per share. Revenues for the comparable period the previous year were $710,676 with a net loss of $410,931 or $0.14 per share.
 "We have made significant progress in the past few months in accordance with our business plan, from being awarded a major grant as part of the government's prestigious Advanced Technology Program to advancing our joint development relationships," said President and CEO Gregory J. Yurek. "While we are pleased with our achievements and direction, we expect that losses will widen next year as we expand our R&D and manufacturing engineering programs. It is imperative that we continue this scale-up to maintain our leadership position in technology as we move toward commercialization."
 American Superconductor creates and develops materials and manufacturing processes for making flexible high temperature ceramic superconducting wires and wire products. The firm develops a broad range of high temperature superconductors in the form of multistrand conductors and magnetic coils, and is the largest industrial effort in the world dedicated to their production.
