AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE HONORS TRANS-LUX AT OPENING OF NEW INDEX TRADING AREA

NEW YORK, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange honored Trans-Lux Corporation (AMEX: TLX), of Norwalk, Conn., in a ceremony on Monday morning celebrating the opening of its new index trading area. Trans-Lux, the second-oldest firm listed on the AMEX, is the primary supplier of the electronic LED displays used to deliver vital news, stock and options trading information and market quotes to the AMEX, as well as to most major exchanges in North America.
AMEX Chief Operating Officer Jules Winters, Trans-Lux Chairman Richard Brandt and Chief Executive Officer Victor Liss officiated at the ribbon-cutting for the newly designed trading area that consolidates all the Exchange's index products into one area for the first time. Mr. Brandt rang the opening trading bell after a brief ceremony dedicating the new facility.
The new floor design, the first phase of a strategic redesign of the entire facility, incorporates 18 six-foot wide DataWall displays that surround the 2,000 square foot pit. This represents a significant increase in the quantity and technological sophistication of Trans-Lux displays than the Exchange has historically required.
Trans-Lux' newest innovations in electronic display technology are a key element in the new generation of trading floor design that reduce the dependency on costly monitor-based systems. LED Wall Displays are communal and provide exchanges and brokerage firms with an information delivery system that is operationally flexible, responsive to individual trader's needs, and offers economic benefits not feasible with monitor- based trading systems.
This is the second of two major exchange installations for Trans-Lux this month. Earlier in July, the world's largest and first monitor-less trading floor opened at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), featuring 360-degree panoramas of Trans-Lux electronic LED Wall Displays in place in video monitors.
