AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE DAILY REPORT

 NEW YORK, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock Exchange closed higher today in very heavy trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 2.71 to 414.89. Advances led declines 314 to 245 with 203 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose 7 cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 20,249,585 shares, up from the 17,247,500 shares traded yesterday. After-hours volume totaled 300 shares, bringing the cumulative volume for today to 20,249,885 shares.
 Topping the most active list was Wang Laboratories Class B, up 1/8 to 1-1/16 on 990,600 shares, followed by Fruit of the Loom, up 3-7/8 to 48-7/8 on 879,200 shares. The third most active issue, Exploration Company of Louisiana, Inc. was down 1/8 to 1 on 877,400 shares.

 Today's cumulative volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 307,500 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was Audre Recognition Systems, Inc., up 1/8 to 5-1/8 on 148,400 shares.
 Trading in options was moderate today with 207,801 contracts changing hands as compared with 172,825 contracts traded yesterday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Midcap Jun 150 series, down 1/4 to 1-1/8 on 1,500 contracts, followed by the Major Market Index Feb 100 series, down 1-13/16 to 2-3/16 on 1,247 contracts. The third most active was the Intergraph Corp. Feb 100 series up 1/8 to 5/8 on 1,194 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Motorola Feb 55 series, unchanged at 1-1/8 on 3,341 contracts, followed by the Major Market Index Feb 355 series up 1-1/4 to 2-1/8 on 2,296 contracts. The third most active was the Disney Feb 45 series, up 11/16 to 2-11/16 on 2,289 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 Standard & Poor's MidCap Index: up 1.14 to 165.45. Contracts volume 5,062, with 3,676 puts and 1,386 calls.
 Major Market Index: up 3.86 to 353.04. Contracts volume 11,116, with 4,365 puts and 6,751 calls.
 XMI Leaps Index: up .38 to 35.30. Contracts volume 171, with 171 puts and 0 calls.
 Institutional Index (XII): up 4.03 to 450.24. Contracts volume 2,139, with 194 puts and 1,945 calls.
