AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE DAILY REPORT

 NEW YORK, Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock Exchange closed lower today in active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed down 0.35 to 393.83. Advances led declines 300 to 274 with 228 issues unchanged. The average price per share fell one cent.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 15,047,740 shares, up from the 11,824,155 shares traded yesterday. There was no after-hours trading activity.
 Topping the most active list was Interdigital Communications, Inc., up 1/2 to 9-3/8 on 692,000 shares, followed by Exploration Company of Louisiana, down 1/16 to 1-1/8 on 382,400 shares. The third most active issue, Cheyenne Software was down 1-5/8 to 29-1/2 on 323,000 shares.

 Today's cumulative volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 356,300 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was Top Source, Inc., up 1/16 to 2-1/8 on 68,000 shares.
 Trading in options was light today with 139,542 contracts changing hands as compared with 100,443 contracts traded yesterday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Major Market Index January 350 series, up 1-1/8 to 3-5/8 on 1,179 contracts, followed by the Intel Corp. January 90 series, up 5/8 to 3-3/8 on 787 contracts. The third most active was the Major Market Index January 345 series up 7/16 to 1-7/8 on 771 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Institutional Index February 475 series, unchanged at 11/16 on 5,210 contracts, followed by the Disney January 45 series down 1/8 to 5/8 on 2,179 contracts. The third most active was the Philip Morris January 80 series, down 1/16 to 1/2 on 1,989 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 Standard & Poor's MidCap Index: up .98 to 158.79. Contracts volume 1,771, with 1,602 puts and 169 calls.
 Major Market Index: down 3.34 to 348.59. Contracts volume 7,763, with 4,428 puts and 3,335 calls.
