 NEW YORK, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed higher today in active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up .43 to 381.72. Advances led declines 278 to 229 with 214 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose one cent.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 13,592,960 shares, down from the 15,792,205 shares traded yesterday. There was no after hours activity reported.
 Topping the most active list was Chieftain International, Preferred, unchanged at 25 on 568,200 shares, followed by IVAX Corp, down 1/4 to 31-5/8 on 372,400 shares. The third most active issue, Citizens First Bancorp was up 3/16 to 3-5/8 on 295,200 shares.

 Today's cumulative volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 335,800 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was ACOI Inc., up 1/16 to 11/16 on 106,000 shares.
 Trading in options was light today with 125,599 contracts changing hands as compared with 167,723 contracts traded yesterday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Triton Energy NOV 35 series, up 1/2 to 1-1/8 on 1,549 contracts, followed by the Triton Energy NOV 40 series, up 1-1/8 to 3-7/8 on 1,275 contracts. The third most active was the Phillip Morris NOV 80 series up 1/2 to 3-5/8 on l,152 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Triton Energy NOV 40 Series, down 9/16 to 5/8 on 3,645 contracts, followed by the Pfizer NOV 75 series up 5/16 to 1-15/16 on 1,781 contracts. The third most active was the Major Market Index NOV 355 series, down 1/16 to 9/16 on 1,450 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 S&P Midcap Index: down .05 to 147.70. Contracts volume 653, with 412 puts and 241 calls.
 Major Market Index: down 2.03 to 342.02. Contracts volume 5,473, with 1,723 puts and 3,750 calls.
 XMI Leaps Index (XLT): down .21 to 34.20. Contracts volume 55 with 55 puts and 0 calls.
 Institutional Index (XII): down 2.69 to 430.60. Contracts volume 100 with 0 puts and 100 calls and
 Institutional Index (PXP): down 2.69 to 430.60. Contracts volume 4,077 with 1,960 puts and 2,117 calls.
 EuroTop 100 Index: up 1.33 to 411.36. Contracts volume 4,016 with 2,008 puts and 2,008 calls.

 Prices on the American Stock Exchange closed higher this week in active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 7.48 for the week to 381.72. The Market Value Index reached its intraday high of 382.03 on Friday and slipped to its intraday low of 373.96 on Monday. The average price per share rose 22 cents this week.
 Regular session stock volume for the week totaled 68,466,685 shares, up from the volume of 65,526,905 shares traded last week.
 Options trading was moderate this week as 800,721 contracts changed hands, compared with 852,137 contracts traded in last weeks session.
