 NEW YORK, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed higher today in moderately active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 1.92 to 376.16. Advances led declines 261 to 236 with 221 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose six cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 12,555,090 shares, down from the 12,668,330 shares traded Friday. There was no after-hours trading, bringing the cumulative volume for today to 12,555,090 shares.
 Topping the most active list was Horn & Hardart, up 1/4 to 2 on 956,000 shares, followed by Tubos de Acero de Mexico, unchanged at 6-3/8 on 610,400 shares. The third most active issue, Jan Bell Marketing, fell 1/4 to 17-3/4 on 468,200 shares.

 Today's cumulative volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 308,300 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was Intertel Communications, Inc., up 1/16 to 11/16 on 157,700 shares.
 Trading in options was light today with 165,627 contracts changing hands as compared with 150,391 contracts traded Friday. Calls were generally higher as puts traded mostly lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Texaco November 70 series, down 1/8 to 9 on 4,250 contracts, followed by the U.S. Healthcare November 45 series, up 2-13/16 to 3-1/8 on 2,188 contracts. The third most active was the American Express November 20 series unchanged at 9/16 on 1,547 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the AMR Corporation November 65 series, up 3/8 to 1-1/2 on 4,857 contracts, followed by the Institutional Index December 455 series up 5/16 to 1-1/8 on 4,575 contracts. The third most active was the Glaxo Holdings December 22 1/2 series, unchanged at 2-7/8 on 4,546 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 Standard & Poor's MidCap Index: up .27 to 146.10. Contracts volume 673, with 338 puts and 335 calls.
 Major Market Index: up 4.33 to 343.85. Contracts volume 6,027, with 4,175 puts and 1,852 calls.
 XMI Leaps Index: up .44 to 34.39. Contracts volume 172, with 142 puts and 30 calls.
 Institutional Index (XII): up 4.94 to 432.03. Contracts volume 150, with 100 puts and 50 calls.
