 NEW YORK, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed lower today in moderate trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed down 2.25 to 377.49. Declines led advances 323 to 181 with 239 issues unchanged. The average price per share fell six cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 10,811,000 shares, down from the 13,574,180 shares traded yesterday. There was no after hours activity.
 Topping the most active list was Fruit of the Loom, up 1-1/8 to 30- 7/8 on 379,800 shares, followed by Nabors Industries, was unchanged at 6-7/8 on 361,600 shares. The third most active issue, Wang Laboratories, Class B was unchanged at 3-1/8 on 270,100 shares.

 Today's volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 249,900 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was AUDRE Recognition Systems, down 1/16 to 3-5/8 on 59,900 shares.
 Trading in options was moderate today with 203,155 contracts changing hands as compared with 207,503 contracts traded yesterday. Puts were higher as calls traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the S&P Midcap July 145 series, up 1-3/8 to 8-7/8 on 2,750 contracts, followed by the U.S. Surgical Co. series, up 9/16 to 1-3/16 on 2,615 contracts. The third most active was the S&P Midcap September 135 series up 1/4 to 4-3/4 on 2,500 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Major Market Index June 350 series, down 11/16 to 5/16 on 2,511 contracts, followed by the U.S. Surgical Co. series down 3-1/2 to 2-1/2 on 2,020 contracts. The third most active was the U.S. Surgical Co. series, down 7/8 to 1-1/4 on 1,865 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 S&P Midcap Index: down 1.12 to 136.15. Contracts volume 17,050, with 15,354 puts and 1,696 calls.
 Major Market Index: down .44 to 346.48. Contracts volume 15,561, with 6,986 puts and 8,575 calls.
 Capped Major Market Index: down .44 to 346.48. Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
 XMI Leaps Index (XLT): down .04 to 34.65. Contracts volume 477 with 445 puts and 32 calls.
 Institutional Index: down .35 to 415.33. Contracts volume 6,860 with 3,157 puts and 3,703 calls.
 Capped Institutional Index: down .35 to 415.33. Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
 Japan Index: down 4.12 to 161.77. Contracts volume 3,560, with 2,566 puts and 994 calls.
