 NEW YORK, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed lower today in active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed down 6.38 to 379.74. Declines led advances 392 to 141 with 217 issues unchanged. The average price per share fell 18 cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 13,574,180 shares, up from the 10,169,555 shares traded yesterday. There was no after-hours trading activity today.
 Topping the most active list was Fruit of the Loom, down 2 5/8 to 29 3/4 on 642,800 shares, followed by Nabors Industries, down 1/8 to 6 7/8 on 444,100 shares. The third most active issue, International Corona Corp. was down 1/16 to 4 1/2 on 437,000 shares.

 Today's volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 230,500 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was Advanced Photonix, Inc., up 1/8 to 3 3/4 on 48,000 shares.
 Trading in options was moderate today with 207,503 contracts changing hands as compared with 142,093 contracts traded yesterday. Puts were higher as calls traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Major Market Index June 350 series, up 2 9/16 to 3 7/8 on 1,933 contracts, followed by the Amgen Inc. June 55 series, up 11/16 to 1 1/8 on 1,901 contracts. The third most active was the Major Market Index June 345 series up 1 3/16 to 1 5/8 on 1,707 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Philip Morris July 75 series, up 1/8 to 2 on 3,736 contracts, followed by the Apple Computer July 60 Inc. series down 1/16 to 1/8 on 2,719 contracts. The third most active was the Philip Morris June 75 series, unchanged at 1/4 on 2,432 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 S&P Midcap Index: down 2.63 to 137.27. Contracts volume 6,815, with 4,908 puts and 1,907 calls.
 Major Market Index: down 4.73 to 346.92. Contracts volume 18,707 with 12,105 puts and 6,602 calls.
 Capped Major Market Index: down 4.73 to 346.92. Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
 XMI Leaps Index: down .48 to 34.69. Contracts volume 1,114 with 944 puts and 170 calls.
 Institutional Index: down 5.71 to 415.68. Contracts volume 5,341, with 3,833 puts and 1,508 calls.
 Capped Institutional Index: down 5.71 to 415.68. Contracts volume 5, with 5 puts and 0 calls.
 Japan Index: down 4.23 to 165.89. Contracts volume 4,837, with 3,241 puts and 1,596 calls.
