 NEW YORK, May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed higher today in very active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 2.39 to 394.69. Advances led declines 310 to 235 with 231 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose seven cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 14,153,460 shares, down from the 14,429,720 shares traded yesterday. There was no after-hours trading activity reported today.
 Topping the most active list was Ivax Corp., up 2 1/8 to 26 1/4 on 634,900 shares, followed by Wang Class B, down 1/8 to 3 1/2 on 597,000 shares. The third most active issue, Biopharmaceutics, Inc., was down 3/4 to 5 1/8 on 497,100 shares.

 Today's volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 244,600 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was AUDRE Recognition Systems, up 11/16 to 3 15/16 on 57,000 shares.
 Trading in options was light today with 151,775 contracts changing hands as compared with 132,902 contracts traded yesterday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the MidCap Jun 142 1/2 series, down 1/4 to 1 3/8 on 1,530 contracts, followed by the MidCap Jun 140 series, down 1/4 to 13/16 on 1,480 contracts. The third most active was the Amgen Jun 60 series unchanged at 1 3/8 on 1,405 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the RJR Nabisco Jun 10 series, up 1/8 to 7/16 on 3,416 contracts, followed by the Centel Jul 35 series down 3/16 to 11/16 on 2,170 contracts. The third most active was the Philip Morris Jun 80 series, up 1/8 to 15/16 on 2,132 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 S&P Midcap Index: up 1.26 to 144.20. Contracts volume 6,106, with 3,782 puts and 2,324 calls.
 Major Market Index: down 1.28 to 358.75. Contracts volume 5,368, with 2,467 puts and 2,901 calls.
 Capped Major Market Index: down 1.28 to 358.75. Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
 XMI Leaps (XLT) Index: down .13 to 35.87. Contracts volume 241 with 234 puts and 7 calls.
 Institutional Index: down 1.81 to 429.62. Contracts volume 3,303, with 597 puts and 2.706 calls.
 Capped Institutional Index: down 1.81 to 429.62. Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
 Japan Index: up 4.17 to 184.79. Contracts volume 1,970, with 892 puts and 1,078 calls.

 Prices on the American Stock Exchange closed higher this week in very active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 2.23 for the week to 394.69. The Market Value Index reached its intraday high of 394.70 on Friday and slipped to its intraday low of 390.58 on Thursday. The average price per share rose six cents this week.
 Regular session stock volume for the week totaled 58,282,225 shares, down from the volume of 60,136,180 shares traded last week.
 Options trading was light this week as 572,996 contracts changed hands, compared with 759,358 contracts traded in last week's session.
