 NEW YORK, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed lower today in moderate trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed down 1.94 to 383.04. Declines led advances 316 to 240 with 224 issues unchanged. The average price per share fell 5 cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 12,508,020 shares, up from the 12,084,165 shares traded yesterday. There was no after-hours trading activity.
 Topping the most active list was Chambers Development Class A, down 1/4 to 6 3/4 on 494,500 shares, followed by Amdahl Corp., down 5/8 to 15-5/8 on 431,400 shares. The third most active issue, Wang Labs Class B was down 1/8 to 3-7/8 on 389,500 shares.

 Today's volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 162,600 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was Medphone Corp., unchanged at 1-1/16 on 29,800 shares.
 Trading in options was light today with 170,277 contracts changing hands as compared with 122,303 contracts traded yesterday. Puts were higher as calls traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Glaxo Aug. 25 series, up 1/16 to 1-7/16 on 2,090 contracts, followed by the MidCap Jun. 145 series, up 1 to 7-7/8 on 1,604 contracts. The third most active was the MidCap May 137 1/2 series up 5/16 to 1-3/4 on 1,367 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Amgen May 55 series, down 5/8 to 11/16 on 3,471 contracts, followed by the Glaxo Aug. 25 series down 1/8 to 2-3/4 on 2,066 contracts. The third most active was the Glaxo May 30 series, unchanged at 1/8 on 1,777 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 S&P Midcap Index: down 1.30 to 138.41. Contracts volume 9,338, with 8,310 puts and 1028 calls.
 Major Market Index: up .66 to 348.94. Contracts volume 6,632, with 3,376 puts and 3,256 calls.
 Capped Major Market Index: up .66 to 348.94. Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
 LT (XLT) Index: up .06 to 34.89. Contracts volume 741 with 739 puts and 2 calls.
 Institutional Index: up 1.37 to 421.53. Contracts volume 1,527, with 945 puts and 582 calls.
 Capped Institutional Index: up 1.37 to 421.53. Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
