 NEW YORK, March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed higher today in heavy trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up .47 to 404.06. Declines and advances both numbered 267, with 268 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose one cent.
 Stock volume for the reglar session totaled 19,248,730 shares, up from the 11,990,925 shares traded yesterday. After-Hours volume totaled 1,000 shares, bringing the cumulative volume for today to 19,249,730 shares.
 There were 237 block trades, while 211 blocks were traded in the previous trading session.
 Topping the most active list was International Corona Corp., up 3/4 to 4 1/4 on 3,609,700 shares, followed by Glacier Water Services, down 5/8 to 10 3/4 on 600,400 shares. The third most active issue, Continental Airlines Holdings was up 1/4 to 1 1/2 on 544,600 shares.

 Trading in options was light today with 140,212 contracts changing hands as compared with 156,338 contracts traded yesterday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Pfizer Jun. 65 series, up 9/16 to 1 9/16 on 1,578 contracts, followed by the Major Market Index Mar. 340 series, up 3/4 to 1 1/16 on 1,381 contracts. The third most active was the Major Market Index Mar. 345 series down 1 1/8 to 2 3/8 on 1,170 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Pfizer Mar. 65 series, down 3 5/8 to 6 3/8 on 8,863 contracts, followed by the Pfizer Sep. 70 series down 1 1/2 to 5 7/8 on 8,810 contracts. The third most active was the Philip Morris Apr. 80 series, up 3/16 to 1 1/4 on 2,350 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 Major Market Index: up .40 to 312.37. Contracts volume 16,464, with 8,911 puts and 7,553 calls.
 Capped Major Market Index: up .40 to 312.37. Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
 LT (XLT) Index: up .04 to 31.24. Contracts volume 3,607, with 607 puts and 3,000 calls.
 Institutional Index: up .35 to 397.95. Contracts volume 2,869, with 1,578 puts and 1,291 calls.

 Japan Index: down 3.87 to 220.83. Contracts volume 2,599, with 2,370 puts and 229 calls.

 Prices on the American Stock Exchange closed lower this week in active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed down 3.89 for the week to 404.06. The Market Value Index reached its intraday high of 408.55 on Wednesday and slipped to its intraday low of 403.07 on Thursday. The average price per share fell 12 cents this week.
 Regular session stock volume for the week totaled 73,283,545 shares, down from the volume of 75,596,765 shares traded last week. There were 1,053 blocks traded during the week, compared with 1,127 blocks traded the previous week.
 Options trading was light this week as 683,928 contracts changed hands, compared with 708,908 contracts traded in last week's session.
