 NEW YORK, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed lower today in heavy trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed down 0.84 to 415.41. Declines led advances 334 to 286 with 220 issues unchanged. The average price per share fell two cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 22,393,240 shares, up from the 19,447,740 shares traded yesterday. After-hours volume totaled 1,500 shares, bringing the cumulative volume for today to 22,394,740 shares.
 There were 222 block trades, while 208 blocks were traded in the previous trading session.
 Topping the most active list was Wang Labs Class B, up 1/8 to 3-3/4 on 1,002,300 shares, followed by U.S. Bioscience, down 1/2 to 17 on 994,300 shares. The third most active issue, O'Brien Environmental Energy Inc. was up 5/8 to 4-7/8 on 791,200 shares.

 Trading in options was moderate today with 195,228 contracts changing hands as compared with 146,185 contracts traded yesterday. Puts were higher as calls traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Philip Morris Feb. 75 series, up 9/16 to 1-1/16 on 2,390 contracts, followed by the Midlantic Feb. 7 1/2 series, down 3/16 to 5/8 on 1,575 contracts. The third most active was the RJR Nabisco Feb. 10 series up 1/16 to 1/8 on 1,460 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Seagate Technology Jun. 15 series, up 3/16 to 1-7/16 on 4,436 contracts, followed by the Temple-Inland Feb. 50 series down 1/2 to 4-3/8 on 3,100 contracts. The third most active was the Philip Morris Feb. 80 series, down 7/16 to 1/4 on 2,631 contracts.

 Prices on the American Stock Exchange closed higher this week in active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 4.04 for the week to 415.41. The Market Value Index reached its intraday high of 416.35 on Thursday and slipped to its intraday low of 411.06 on Monday. The average price per share rose 12 cents this week.
 Regular session stock volume for the week totaled 100,090,290 shares, up from the volume of 88,396,645 shares traded last week. After-hours trading for the week totaled 12,800 shares. There were 1,084 blocks traded during the week, compared with 1,231 blocks traded the previous week.
 Options trading was light this week as 776,491 contracts changed hands, compared with 803,105 contracts traded in last week's session.
