 NEW YORK, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed higher today in heavy trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 1.01 to 416.25, a new all-time record high. Advances led declines 329 to 264 with 243 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose three cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 19,447,740 shares, up from the 19,440,695 shares traded yesterday. There was no after-hour trading today.
 There were 208 block trades, while 224 blocks were traded in the previous trading session.
 Topping the most active list was U.S. Bioscience, down 1 to 17-1/2 on 897,000 shares, followed by Fruit of the Loom, up 1-7/8 to 32-1/2 on 660,800 shares. The third most active issue, Weatherford International was down 3/8 to 4-1/4 on 512,500 shares.

 Trading in options was light today with 146,185 contracts changing hands as compared with 163,832 contracts traded yesterday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the LT-20 Dec. 35 series, down 3/16 to 2-1/16 on 1,000 contracts, followed by the Philip Morris Mar. 75 series, down 5/16 to 1-1/4 on 842 contracts. The third most active was the Glaxo May 30 series up 1/8 to 2-1/8 on 784 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Glaxo Feb. 25 series, down 1/8 to 5-1/2 on 4,030 contracts, followed by the Glaxo May 27 1/2 series down 3/8 to 4 on 3,106 contracts. The third most active was the Glaxo Feb. 27 1/2 series, down 13/16 to 2-15/16 on 2,409 contracts.
