 NEW YORK, Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed lower today in very active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed down 1.93 to 405.64. It was the first decline since Dec. 19, following a total of 13 consecutive advancing sessions. Declines led advances 323 to 304 with 241 issues unchanged. The average price per share fell six cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 19,068,960 shares, down from the 23,755,290 shares traded yesterday. There was no after-hours trading activity today
 There were 252 block trades, while 229 blocks were traded in the previous trading session.
 Topping the most active list was Nabors Industries, down 1/4 to 5-7/8 on 690,900 shares, followed by Amdahl Corp., up 5/8 to 16-5/8 on 450,100 shares. The third most active issue, Hillhaven Corp. was up 1/8 to 2-7/8 on 395,100 shares.

 Trading in options was moderate today with 193,432 contracts changing hands as compared with 253,085 contracts traded yesterday. Puts were higher as calls traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Chase Manhattan Jan. 17 1/2 series, down 1/16 to 1/8 on 2,623 contracts, followed by the Major Market Index Jan. 345 series, down 1/8 to 2-7/16 on 1,785 contracts. The third most active was the Disney Co. Jan. 125 series down 7/16 to 13/16 on 1,610 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Trinity Industries Jan. 40 series, up 7/16 to 1-1/2 on 3,176 contracts, followed by the Chase Manhattan Jan. 17 1/2 series up 1/4 to 2-3/4 on 2,536 contracts. The third most active was the Glaxo May 35 series, down 3/8 to 2-7/8 on 2,013 contracts.

 Major Market Index: down .97 to 347.67. Contracts volume 12,112, with 7,505 puts and 4,607 calls.

 Prices on the American Stock Exchange closed higher this week in active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 6.81 for the week to 405.64. The Market Value Index reached its intraday high of 407.74 on Thursday and slipped to its intraday low of 397.42 on Monday. The average price per share rose 19 cents this week.
 Regular session stock volume for the week totaled 103,280,275 shares, up from the volume of 93,065,880 shares traded last week. After-hours trading for the week totaled 1,100 shares. There were 1,245 blocks traded during the week, compared with 822 blocks traded the previous week.
 Options trading was moderate this week as 1,099,355 contracts changed hands, compared with 822,242 contracts traded in last week's session.
