AMERICAN SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES OFFICER REALIGNMENT

 ATLANTA, July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- James C. Edenfield, president of American Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMSWA), announced today a realignment of certain executive positions in the company's American Software USA subsidiary.
 G. Calvin Norman, who previously has been senior vice president responsible for the Mid-Range Systems, has been appointed senior vice president of International Operations. In this position, Norman will concentrate on the development of international business, both direct and through agencies and other third-party relationships. The creation of this new position is a recognition of the company's increased investment and emphasis in the international arena.
 Paul Di Bono has been appointed senior vice president and general manager responsible for Mid-Range Systems, assuming the responsibilities of Norman in that area. Previously, Di Bono was vice president- Marketing. Di Bono will continue to be responsible for the company's investor relations activities.
 The position of vice president-Marketing has been assumed by Robert Gumaer, previously vice president-Asia Pacific. Gumaer will report to J. Michael Edenfield, who has been named senior vice president of North American Sales and Marketing.
 American Software, headquartered in Atlanta, develops, markets and supports business application software for a wide range of end users, including manufacturing companies, public utilities, financial institutions, health care facilities and distribution concerns. The company's Class A Common Shares are listed on the NASDAQ stock market national market under the symbol AMSWA.
