AMERICAN SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF CORPORATE MARKETING AND INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS

 ATLANTA, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- American Software (NASDAQ-NMS: AMSWA) announced today the appointment of Larry A. Mueller to assume the responsibilities of senior vice president of Corporate Marketing and International Operations.
 In this capacity, Mueller's primary objective is to substantially increase the company's international activities particularly in Europe, Latin America and Asia by forming strategic alliances and key partnerships in response to the growing needs of the global marketplace. Similarly, Mueller will focus on large American multinational companies requiring distributed solutions on a worldwide basis. He will also be responsible for heading the company's marketing efforts which will include enhancing its position for future expansion internationally.

 Before joining American Software, Mueller was executive vice president of worldwide operations at J.D. Edwards. At IBM, his extensive experience in sales management spanned several positions including a broad range of international responsibilities. He was IBM's branch manager in Los Angeles before becoming the executive assistant to the chairman of IBM Europe. He then assumed responsibilities as director of midrange operations in Paris where he announced the AS/400 for Europe and developed the Business Partner Channel strategy.
