 AMERICAN RADIO ASSOCIATION TO JOIN ILA
 NEW YORK, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Longshoremen's


Association, AFL-CIO today granted a charter to the American Radio Association, AFL-CIO (ARA) inviting the 300 member union to affiliate with the dockworkers' union, according to an announcement made jointly by John Bowers, the ILA president, and William R. Steinberg, ARA leader. The ARA which represents radio electronics officers aboard U.S. flag merchant vessels, officially becomes the American Radio Association- Marine Electronics Division, ILA, AFL-CIO.
 "The ILA is proud to welcome the ARA as a new division into our ranks," Bowers said.
 "Our membership in a referendum vote authorized disafilliation from the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots and affiliation with the ILA," said Steinberg, ARA president whose union is more than 50 years old and represents radio electronics officers aboard U.S. flag ships, sailing from Atlantic, Pacific and gulf ports. "We are grateful to be welcomed by the ILA."
