AMERICAN NATIONAL CAN COMPANY ELECTS TURNER AS PRESIDENT
CHICAGO, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- American National Can Co. (ANC) today announced the election of Jack H. Turner, 57, to the additional position of president; he was also elected to the board of directors. Roland H. Meyer, president and chief operating officer, is retiring June 30 after 20 years of service with the company and 45 years in the packaging industry. Meyer will remain a member of ANC's board.
"Jack's 23 years with American National Can and considerable background heading up our core beverage can business have given him valuable operating and management experience," said Jean-Pierre Ergas, ANC chairman and CEO. "Roland's outstanding record of achievement will serve us well, and we are gratified that he will continue to serve on our board."
Turner will continue to oversee worldwide beverage can operations as ANC's chief operating officer, Beverage Worldwide, a position he assumed in 1991. Previously, he had served as executive vice president for the company's Beverage Cans Worldwide business since 1989, and executive vice president overseeing international operations since 1987. He joined the company in 1969 as assistant corporate controller and has held various positions of increasing administrative and operational responsibility in the interim.
Turner graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. He is a certified public accountant.
