AMERICAN MEDICAL RESPONSE RECEIVES APPROVAL FOR $30 MILLION LINE OF CREDIT

BOSTON, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- American Medical Response, Inc. (NYSE: EMT) announced today that the company has received a commitment from a group of banks for a $30 million unsecured revolving credit facility. The lending group, led by The Fleet Financial Group, also includes Continental Bank, N.A. and Pacific Western Bank.
American intends to use the credit facility to consolidate existing debt, to finance future acquisitions, and for general working capital purposes. This facility, which bears interest at the prime rate, is anticipated to be closed by March 31, 1993.
"We are delighted that Fleet has provided us with this credit facility. We look forward to a long and rewarding relationship with this quality group of sophisticated bankers," said Paul Verrochi, chairman, chief executive officer and president of American Medical Response, Inc. "Obtaining this credit line is another example of the economies of scale we are able to bring to our partnership of entrepreneurial companies. We can now consolidate outstanding debt held by our various service providers and operate a national banking program at a favorable rate. Moreover, this capital will enable us to continue the acquisition program that we began at the time of our initial public offering last year."
American Medical Response is the leading provider of emergency and non-emergency pre-hospital care in the nearly $5 billion ambulance services industry, and is the only publicly owned ambulance service company in the United States. It currently serves an aggregate population of more than five million people in California, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, Mississippi, Colorado, Oregon and Washington. American Medical Response responded to more than 400,000 emergency service calls during 1992. Through strategic acquisitions, American Medical Response intends to penetrate new areas of the country by expanding its established regions and consolidating operations.
