AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL GROUP ELECTS BRIAN DUPERREAULT EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, FOREIGN GENERAL INSURANCE

 NEW YORK, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- American International Group, Inc. (AIG) (NYSE: AIG) has announced that Brian Duperreault, president of American International Underwriters (AIU), AIG's overseas property- casualty insurance organization, has been elected to the additional position of AIG executive vice president, Foreign General Insurance.
 Mr. Duperreault, 46, has been president of AIU since 1991, when he returned to the United States from Japan, where he had been Senior AIG Officer for Japan and Korea for two years. Mr. Duperreault joined AIG in 1973 as an actuary, and was named chief actuary for AIG's domestic brokerage operations in 1978. He was appointed senior vice president of AIU in 1981 and AIU's Chief Casualty Officer in 1985. From 1987 to 1989 he held senior positions with AIG's American Home Assurance Company and AIG Risk Management, Inc.
 AIG is the leading U.S.-based international insurance organization and the largest underwriter of commercial and industrial insurance in the United States.
