AMERICAN FOREST RESOURCE ALLIANCE ISSUES STATEMENT
ON INJUNCTION AGAINST U.S. FOREST SERVICE
PORTLAND, Ore., May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement was made today by American Forest Resource Alliance Executive Director Mark Rey, upon learning that a temporary injunction against the U.S. Forest Service was issued by Judge William Dwyer:
"The issuance of a temporary injunction by Judge Dwyer must be seen as an ominous development as it applies to the fate of timber- dependent communities, school districts, counties and families throughout California, Oregon and Washington.
"Quite frankly, we are expecting the worst. We would not be surprised if Judge Dwyer once again issues a crippling injunction, sending economic shock waves throughout the region.
"Hopefully, Congress will finally see the storm clouds and offer the region needed shelter in the form of a legally defensible legislative package that protects the economy and the environment, rather than just special interest litigators."
