AMERICAN EXPRESS EMPLOYEES ADOPT HOUSE OF HOPE DRUG AND ALCOHOL REHABILITATION FACILITY; MARGATE HOME DEPOT JOINS IN EFFORT

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- American Express and Margate Home Depot have joined together to refurbish Broward's House of Hope -- a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility for men at 908 S.W. First Street, Fort Lauderdale. On Sept. 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. hundreds of employee volunteers will work side-by-side with House of Hope clients, administrators and board members in a massive clean-up, fix-up project.
American Express employees collected items needed by the facility -- everything from linens, games and videos, toiletries and furniture. Home Depot has donated 100 gallons of paint, ceiling tiles, light panels, air conditioning unit, Bar-B-Que and paint supplies.
Each year an Employee Volunteer Council at American Express selects a major community project. Over the past several years, employees have adopted a children's day care center and a senior day care facility. The American Express Employee Volunteer Council has been the recipient of the J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award.
