AMERICAN EXPRESS AND DISNEY ENTER EXCLUSIVE AGREEMENT

NEW YORK, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- American Express Cardmembers who book a Disney vacation can now make an advance deposit using their American Express Card. Reservations can be made through a travel agent.
Under this arrangement, all Walt Disney World Resort hotels and the Disneyland Hotel will accept advance deposits by telephone exclusively on the American Express Card and will only honor other charge or credit cards for deposits made by mail. As in the past, personal and cashier checks will be accepted. Advance deposits are required by Disney resorts to hold reservations that are booked 30 days or more prior to vacation.
The arrangement between American Express and Disney provides a convenient and reliable way for travel agents to secure reservations on behalf of clients. In the past, a typical agency/client transaction could involve several steps -- a client would write a check payable to the travel agent who, in turn, would write a check to Disney. Under the American Express/Disney arrangement, the agent can simply use the client's American Express Card account.
"This one-step process benefits both travel agent and client," said Chris Froelich, national account vice president at American Express Travel Related Services. "For the agent, a transaction made with the American Express Card saves time, reduces the agent's paperwork and eliminates the need for agents to lay out cash on behalf of clients. Cardmembers have the added benefit of knowing that their reservation is guaranteed."
The American Express Card is the official card of Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Euro Disney.
