BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- American Educational Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMEP), today announced it has named George J. McMahon general manager of Summit Learning, Inc., the company's mail- order distribution subsidiary.
McMahon was previously vice president of marketing for The Company Store, LaCrosse, Wis., where he improved the response rate to the company's consumer mail-order catalogs while significantly reducing advertising costs. He also conceived The Company Store's international expansion strategies for Canada, Asia and Europe.
Prior to joining The Company Store, McMahon was marketing director for Figi's Inc., a specialty catalog marketer and subsidiary of Fingerhut Corp. He was transferred to Figi's from Fingerhut, where he was a marketing manager with responsibility for customer list development, quantitative analysis and long-term planning. McMahon began his career as a product manager for Federal Prescription Service, Madrid, Iowa, a mail-order marketer of vitamin and health products.
"We are delighted that we could attract George, with his outstanding credentials in consumer catalogs and mail-order," said Paul Whittle, president and CEO of American Educational Products. "His experience has helped to shape the roll-out strategies for our first consumer catalog, directed at a market which we believe holds enormous opportunity. Summit's core business of mail-order distribution to teachers also will benefit from his leadership."
