AMERICAN DENTAL LASER, LASER MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY SETTLE PATENT INFRINGEMENT SUIT

AMERICAN DENTAL LASER, LASER MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY
 SETTLE PATENT INFRINGEMENT SUIT
TROY, Mich., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Laser Medical Technology, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: LMET) and American Dental Laser, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADLI) announced today that they have settled the lawsuit between them which has been pending in a California federal court for more than a year.
The companies, which both market Nd:YAG dental lasers, said they have settled all claims against each other. As part of the settlement, each company is also recognizing the validity of one another's patent claims.
Involved was one of Laser Medical's patents for aiding the cutting of teeth and a cooling medium on the tooth while lasing. American Dental Laser had four of its patents involved. They covered the use of lasers to remove decay and stains from teeth, to remove soft tissue in the mouth, to perform root canals and to decentralize and anesthetize teeth. In the settlement, American Dental Laser agreed not to sue Laser Medical for infringement of the patents involved. Laser Medical has also agreed not to sue American Dental Laser on its patents involved unless American Dental Laser sells a dental laser with a water cooling nozzle or advocates the simultaneous use of water while lasing to cool the tissue.
Laser Medical (formerly Endo Technic International) is based in San Clemente, Calif. It develops, manufactures and distributes advanced dental products in the United States and Europe. It is a public company whose stock is traded on the Electronic Bulletin Board under the symbol LMET.
